Satyamev Jayate 2nd episode reviews, reactions and Video (Child sexual abuse)

Sunday’s will never be the same again! Yes we are talking about Satyamev Jayate. It was time for the second Episode and yet another Shock. The audiences were eagerly waiting to know about the second topic and as mention in our previous post ”What to expect from upcoming second episode of Satyamev Jayate?”  This episode was indeed about “Child Sexual Abuse”.

The show started with Aamir Khan talking about Parents. He mentioned that our parents are always worried about their kids; they always ensure that we are safe. There was a moment when Aamir’s parents said “You will understand this when you become a parent” How often do we hear this!! I guess most of our parents might have said the same thing to us at some point in time. In the show they had invited Parents who had kids between 12-13 yrs. And soon there was a disclaimer made by Aamir Khan and stated that if parents feel that this show should not be watched by their kids, they must ensure that they are in a safe place. But soon he mentioned that they will hold a workshop for children towards the end of the episode.

As expected the show did move on to the Statistics about Child Sex Abuse.  Based on Indian Child Sexual Abuse report: 2007, 53% Indian children are victims of some form of Child sex abuse.  And soon the 1st story was based on the same topic, as Cindrella shared her shocking story. The reactions of the audience were just too scary. The audience could not believe what they were hearing this. But Cindrella   did show her fighting spirit but she was still so brave while describing the incident in front of whole world. It takes lot of courage to do that. Soon there were more shocking stats that were yet to come. Listen to this “53% of boys are sexually abused which is more than girls” Yes that is actually SHOCKING.Soon the second guest did share his side of the story. Harish suffered 11 years of Child sex abuse in silence. He was talking about the ugly side and also did mention that all he had to do was say NO. But at times it’s too hard to say your first NO.  Harish’s mother also made an appeal to parents to believe their children if they ever talk about Child sex abuse.

The stories did not end there; there were numerous incidents that were shared. Every story was more ugly than before, but the courage that was displayed by the guests made you feel that it takes a lot of guts to stand and share it with the world.  Dr Rajat Mitra did try to explain the mental state of the perpetrators and also made a very valid point that one should respect the behaviours of a person and not the age.   But as they say “When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile”  There was also a small ray of hope for the children who are suffering this abuse.1098. Yes this is not a normal number. It’s a Helpline number for kids and as of now they have centres in 200 cities in India. It is a helpline that gets 25 lakh calls every year. So do keep this number in mind and spread the awareness.

As promised at the start of the show Aamir did invite the kids on the show and spoke to them. It was a great joy to watch the kids on the show and talk about their version of the word Safety. The workshop did tell them to ensure that they must try to save themselves and scream when such incidents occur. And when it comes to the 3 body parts they must share it with their parents.  And parents should conduct the workshop with their children every 6 months.

Did we forget something…? Well yes, Sridevi was also on the show. As she was shared a testimony of Harish’s story and she was kind enough to come down to meet Harish personally. The show did end on a positive note and there was also a commitment made that Aamir Khan will send across a letter to the government and request them to pass the Law that is pending in Rajya Sabha.

What to expect from upcoming second episode of Satyamev Jayate?

“Satyamev Jayate – Truth Alone Prevails” premiered on Star Plus last Sunday at the time slot of 11 AM. As Aamir Khan – ‘The Star’, thought it will be cool to have the show telecasted in the same slot as the epic Mahabharta or Ramayana. Well the show debuted and created strong ripple among the masses who watched the show in full anticipation as Aamir had created this whole mystery around the show with promos being aired on every Star Network’s channel and online. I am sure Amir Khan must be thanking his stars as he received massively encouraging feedback from all the sections of the society, media, celebrities and others on social networking websites like Facebook, Twitter, blogging websites etc.

Here is a short synopsis of first episode of Satyamev Jayate –

The first episode was based on female foeticide, a inhuman act which is practiced in many parts of the country even as we speak. The show had some shocking revelations about female foeticide and that it is a bigger problem in urban educated sections of society. The show had 3 stories that were shocking but did hit the hearts, and that was evident by the reactions of the audience in the studios. So what our audience can we expect from the next episode of Satyamev Jayate?

As the first episode spoke and discussed about one of the major evil social issues that our country and society is facing, so it is obvious to assume that the upcoming episode will have some or the other social issues as well. The first show and issue was really intriguing and kept the audience hooked with their tears in eyes. So as expected ‘The Perfectionist’ – Amir has already set the bar and the audience will look forward to more from the coming episodes. Well the show had everything you need to make it a success in today’s television scenario where every show (drama or reality) is fighting for TRPs. It has the reality of our life, strong emotional quotient, some really hard hitting facts (which left everyone bewildered) and obviously a pretty star face – Aamir Khan. Undoubtedly Aamir Khan did justice to a strong host and kept the show alive without any dull moments.

The next episodes might portray other really negative issues that our government has not been able to do anything about: “Child Sexual Abuse” or may be “The plight of women’s safety in India with alarmingly raising number of rape and molestation cases”. There is something else that might take the show maker’s attention; “Child Labor and its deadly impact on the upliftment of our country” or “The stark reality behind Indian farmers attempting suicide”.

Whatever may be the next social issue to be addressed or as the social media is upbeat about Amir keeping the secret and excitement for next episode intact; one thing is sure that nobody can be certain of the effective action coming out via this show. It might force us to see the real state of our country and its people but the important thing is that it should be able to bring a change.

As Amir Khan says in one of the promos of the show: “Sirf hungama khada karna mera maksad nahi, meri koshish hai ki ye soorat badalni chahiye; meri seene me nahi to tere seene me sahi, ho kahi bhi aag lekin aag jalni chahiye“. So will we be able bring a change whether in female foeticide or any other issue that will be addressed in upcoming episodes?

DID Li’l Masters toh chhaa gaye hain !!! Jahan dekho unka he bol-bala hai..

The show has got 6.2 TVR, which is Remarkable!

Again, I’m very happy to see so many numbers in Blue. But this time, IPL has ruled again; as you can see above, Max has the highest TRPs. Star Plus has still maintained its top position in GECs and this time have also shown a hike in its GRPs. Zee TV fans be happy; as it has gained its number 2 position after competing with Sony TV for quite some time now. Sony is now on number 3 as per GRPs, followed by colors on number 4.

Kyaa Hua Tera Vaada has picked it up so well. ‘Kaalit potna’ track managed to actually gain ratings. The current track is very interesting and it clearly depicts that audiences love it. Last to last week its rating was 1.7 which increased to 2.2 and now it’s 2.4. It has shown a consecutive hike past 3 weeks. Now, I really hope this consistency is maintained!

Shocker is, now Bade Acche Lagte Hain is not the only top show on Sony TV, it has to share its position with Kya Hua Tera Vaada. Now the big question is; will the magic of Kyunki-Kahani be recreated? Considering both the shows and the time slot 10-11 pm; will that happen? What do you think?

Sudden decline has been noticed in Tarak Mehta Ka Oooltah Chashma on Sab TV. The creative team needs to show something very different and not make it so monotonous every week.

Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behena Hai, Saathiya and Yeh Rishta have managed to increase. Last week’s decline helped them to come up with newer tracks and a fast pace story which has been witnessed today in terms of ratings. Good Job!

Why History TV is my new favorite channel & what shows I like on it?

Well I must say I was compelled to write this post! Yea, this is my job too.. but then who has the time to praise a TV channel and write a whole blog post on it :-) !

But History TV 18 is different and fresh and exciting enough to make me fall in love with it. The day it started, it caught my attention. It had powerful dubbing (I watch it in Hindi) and Salman as a brand ambassador created good hype. Theme music is awesome too!

Here is how I felt in love with this channel-

  • America- The story of the US: When I first saw the trailer of this show, I was surprised that no one has ever told me the history of World’s most popular and powerful country. I was excited to know more about US and the show didn’t disappoint me at all. It was a series of I guess 12-15 episodes (BTW it’s still being aired on TV, you can set reminders on iDubba website) but the story was really engaging. Again dubbing was flawless. Here is more about the show from channel website- AMERICA THE STORY OF THE US tells the extraordinary story of how America was invented, leading from the frontier to 21st Century cities, from the Mississippi to the moon, from colonial Jamestown to 9/11 up to present day. From the rigors of linking the continent by transcontinental roads and railways, to triumphing over vertical space with steel skyscrapers and space travel, the series examines how technology overcame the environment
  • Targeting Bin Laden: A meticulously made documentary which closely depicted killing of Osama Bin Laden by American Navy’s SEAL Team 6. The show was gripping, akin to a blockbuster Hollywood action Movie. It was a 2 hour show but was very informative unlike other attempts to catch the same event by other channels
  • Extreme Trains: I like this show because it makes me curious to know more about how Trains and railway system works. It also gives a feeling of taking the journey of beautiful landscapes alongside best locations of USA. The energy and passion of host Matt Bown is super, and his love for trains is apparent from his presentation
  • Food Tech: Bobby Bognar looks one hell of a Foodie. There are numerous food shows telling us about the preparation and stuff…but nothing like this. This show specifically tells us about the technology which goes behind processing, manufacturing or even packing the food. I personally love the way Bobby puts anything in his mouth and gulps it ;)
  • Pawn Stars: This must be one of the funniest series on TV today. More than their job it’s the clashes among father, son, grandpa which are hilarious. For e.g. one day Grandpa says “Ye tum log kitni gaali dete ho a**h**** (beeped off-course). Aaj se haar gaali pe 1$ fine bharna padega” Interestingly the box for collecting fine gets filled with dollar notes in first half of the day. LOL...This family lives and breathes the pawning business, using their sharp-eyed skills to carefully assess the value of items their colorful customers bring in, objects ranging from the obscure to the truly historic
  • Recently loving Heavy Haulers: Seriously speaking I never knew such a company ever existed or such things were ever POSSIBLE!! Man, shifting house in our country means we shift taking our luggage, but how can this company literally SHIFT A HOUSE? or a CHURCH or any darn BUILDING??? You must see it to believe it! (set reminders on iDubba now)
  • Recently loving Invention Intervention: Americans are MAD! No I mean it!! You can never guess that a person working in his backyard can invent something which can be sold for millions. The hosts are inventors themselves and bet big on backyard inventions and inventors inventing them. They fund from 100,000 to 300,000 dollars to inventions they like. It’s a must watch show for startup lovers and innovators :-)

So here is the gist- The channel has unique content, it primarily showcases lives of Americans (which in itself is fascinating), it has passionate hosts for every show, shows have humor as well as dramatic quotient, dubbing (in Hindi) is great!!

Dhak Dhak Girl is back on television with ‘Jhalak Dikhla Ja’ season 5

The dancing diva of Bollywood is back on Television, and this time as a Judge for ’Jhalak Dikhla Ja’ season 5. She has been the epitome of grace right from her days of dhak dhak in Beta to Dola Re Dola in Devdas, Madhuri has always carried on with her million dollar smile. Sony Entertainment Television brings back it’s reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, which brings in new celebrities and well-known faces to perform with professional dance partners. Thanks to the Success of Season 4, the channel has approached the Dhak Dhak Girl to come back for the 5th Season.


The shows format is taken from the “Strictly Come Dancing” show on BBC One in UK, which has been a huge success in over 30 countries like America, Australia, New Zealand, and Italy, where it is known as Dancing with the Stars. The Indian version has been extensively remodeled to appeal to the country’s viewers and India is the only country to not have live music with an in-house band.

Coming back to Madhuri, she had co-judged the last season (4) with Remo D’Souza and Malaika Arora Khan. However, the co-judges of Madhuri Dixit for the fifth season are yet to be finalized. The show, which was previously aired on Sony TV since 2006, will now be broadcasted on Colors.

So what to expect from this show in Season 5? Well iDubba has some of the answers:

  • In the first look promos for Jhalak Dikhala Jaa 5, Madhuri will be seen giving a tribute to the divas of yesteryears starting with the 60′s superstar Meena Kumari
  • The song “Thade Rahiyo” from Pakeezah is one number which mesmerized us and now, it is with this very song, that Madhuri pays homage to Meena Kumari
  • The promo will see Madhuri in a shimmering pink anarkali outfit performing to the song in true Meena Kumari style
  • The sets will replicate the Pakeezah look – right from the fountains to the pond with floating candles, lights etc


It will not be wrong to say that Madhuri is one actress who can do a disco and a mujra with the same finesse. So are you all set to shake your hips and move your feet with the new season of Jhalak Dikhala Jaa? Well we will be back with some more information about the celebrity participants soon.

All you wanted to know about Satyamev Jayate & Aamir Khan

“Aamir Khan on Television” we normally associate this phrase when we watch his movies on television or on some news channel. But this phrase will have a new meaning the moment his 1st Show on Television will be aired on 6th May at 11:00. Yes you read it right, it’s a Sunday. As mentioned in our previous post “Will “Satyamev Jayate” bring about change in the Indian Television scenario?” It was not difficult to understand that this Show will surely be a A win win situation for Channels and Audience.

iDubba tries to find out some of the reasons why ”Satyamev Jayate” has the potential to change the Indian Television scenario:

  • Satyameva Jayate will be first Indian television show to be telecast simultaneously by a private entertainment television channel and Doordarshan—the national broadcaster. Yes it will be shown on DD. Apart from Star Plus; the show will also have simulcast on STAR Pravah, STAR Jalsha, STAR Utsav, Asianet and STAR Vijay within the STAR Network
  • The show is scheduled to telecast on Sundays at 11 A.M. Mr Khan wanted to telecast it on Sunday as this is considered as “family TV viewing” slot in Indian Television and also TV shows such as  Mahabharata and Ramayana were aired on Sunday mornings, and well, we all know how successful these shows were
  • The title sponsorship has been signed at around 16 – 20 crore, while associate sponsors have paid 6 – 7 crore. WOW… This is huge…Right?
  • There are reports that Aamir Khan is getting paid Rs 3 crore to anchor Satyamev Jayate. So is he the highest paid actor on Indian Television? Well here you go…Amitabh apparently got a fee of Rs 2 crore for his stint in Kaun Banega Crorepati 5, while Salman got reportedly around Rs 2 crore for lending his presence to Bigg Boss 5
  • Aamir Khan along with Ram Sampath, (music director of Delhi Belly) has created 16 songs for the 16 episodes. This too is a first of its kind

Well these are just some of the facts about this show that make it a unique show even before it’s 1st episode being aired. As we all know the Marketing King of Films would definitely have one of a kind plan for his 1st Television show. So here are a few that might impress you.

- The teasers of the show have been all over YouTube

- Makers of show has booked around 2,000 slots for the broadcaster’s promos in 27 hours for an amount of 6.25 crore

- The theme song of the show will be shown in 300 theaters across India after the national anthem. Yes in Movie Halls, Only Aamir Khan can come up with such amazing idea

DID Li’l Masters “Dance Ke Baap” is back…iDubaa has the answers what to expect this time!

After the  phenomenal success of the first season of DID Li’l Masters which started its journey way back in April 2010, Season 2 is all set to take it to the next level. Season 1 had a spectacular, record-breaking opening and Zee TV is back with “Dance ke Baap”. The show will air at the weekend primetime slot of 9pm every Saturday and Sunday on Zee TV, replacing Season 3 of Dance India Dance that was on air. But the auditions have already started.

So what to expect from Season 2? Don’t worry too much; iDubba has some of the answers. So here you go.

- The show will air at the weekend primetime slot of 9pm every Saturday and Sunday on Zee TV

- Master Geeta Kapur and Marzi Pestonji have been roped in to co-judge the dance reality show

- Master Marzi and Geeta Kapur along with Master Terence Lewis will be touring major cities across the country in search of fresh talent for the latest season of the show

- The ‘Top 16’ kids this year will be mentored, groomed and choreographed by popular contestants from the previous seasons of Dance India Dance

- The skippers include…. the king of Slow Motion dance – Raghav aka Crockroaz, the “Prince” of Locking and Popping from Season 1, Neerav Bavlecha, the chocolate boy of DID Season 3 and Kruti Mahesh

- Did we miss something? ;) Here we go… The Grandmaster of the DID family Mithun Da will also make surprise appearances on the show…“Kya Baat Kya Baat Kya Baat”

- And guess what there are some phenomenal performances that include baby belly dancers, tiny salsa dancers, little queens of hula hoop, and some amazing stunts that the kids will perform

The show is considered to be the ultimate dance competition for kids aged 5–13. So let’s go back in time and find out the winner of Season 1. Yes you guessed it right,  Jeetumoni Kalita was the winner for Dance India Dance Li’l Masters (Season 1) and Atul was the first runner up with Vaishnavi and Manoj following them in fourth place.

Amitabh Bachchan’s tweet confirms Kaun Banega Crorepati (new season) to air by August

The television audience is fortunate to hear the following words again “Lock Kiya Jaye”  “Sure, Confident” “computerji”. Yes you guessed it right, Big B is back and this time all set to Host the 6th Season of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). There were reports that he might not host the sixth edition of the reality game show, but thanks to Twitter, Mr Bachchan tweeted “Off for a meet with Sony for next KBC…planning, operation, execution….will keep you informed on its (KBC’s) broadcast and other details”.

As you all know Mr Bachchan is super active on Twitter and always manages to keep his fans posted about news and his views on various topics. No matter what Mr Bachchan does it’s a news and this time he managed to relive the KBC Moments via Twitter. Following are some of his tweets related to this news.

“KBC: 22 million people tuned in to the opening episode .. Continued to be watched by over 120 million through the 56 episodes!! KBC: 16.5 crores prize money won, at an average of 12.5 lakhs per contestant on HOT SEAT… and.. 7.4 crore entries for GBJJ ..!!

“GBJJ: Ghar Baithe Jeeto Jackpot! Phone in on show, get right answer to a question, can win 1 – 2 – 3 lakhs at times!!”

These stats does show what a mass hysteria was created by this show. The show was first aired in 2000,  and was hosted by Big B. This was his first appearance on small screen. And soon the show became a huge hit as Big B hosted first and second seasons.  And guess what, following this, Shah Rukh Khan was soon seen in as the host for the third season. But thanks to the low TRP’s Big B soon returned to anchor the fourth season of the show. But this time it was was aired on Sony Entertainment Television. He did not stop there, and was also seen in the 5th Season.

Will “Satyamev Jayate” bring about change in the Indian Television scenario?

No doubt there have been no dearth of Reality Shows on Indian Television, but is the Indian Audience ready for another Reality Show?  Well, let me rephrase the previous sentence. Is the Indian Television Audience ready for THE show “Satyamev Jayate”? Off lately you might have witnessed the promos of this new show on Star Plus. The show marking the television debut of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan titled ‘Satyamev Jayate’. The show promises to be very different from anything that you have ever seen on India television. In the exclusive promotional trailer, Aamir talks about how he wants everyone to watch ‘Satyamev Jayate’ with their hearts and eyes open.

But the real question is – Will “Satyamev Jayate“, bring about change in the Indian Television scenario? Television now days have been really popular and unpopular for the kind of shows that are aired on various channels. Some have good content while some just have lot of noise around it. Daily Soaps have been somewhat replaced by a number of reality shows. But still you might feel that something is missing. That real connect with the audience is missing, those emotions, those feelings are missing.

There are ‘just’ shows and there are shows that have the ability to change the way to watch television. I am sure that both the generations can somewhat relate to these two shows on television, Ramayan (for the earlier generation) and KBC (for the recent generation). Well, we are not trying to compare both the shows, but the point is that these two shows did change the way we watched television. Both the shows did connect with the audience, and touched their hearts, got them to tears and also made them smile. This new show “Satyamev Jayate” does also promises to do the same, but in a different way. So what is this show all about?

Satyamev Jayate is a talk show, and not just another talk show. The guests on the show would talk about the most difficult times in their lives, and talk about issues, the Real Issues. The channel offering seems to be a breath of genuine fresh air, as the show sets out to reveal the India that lives in villages and only sometimes breaks out in the form of a headline. The Live TV audiences will be moved by the issues tackled on the show.

Truth alone triumphs; not falsehood.

When you hear “Jo Jeeta Wohi…” all you think is “Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar “! Well you are right but soon this is going to change. Star Plus is back with its reality television series “Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar Season 2“. The show clubs in the winners and runners up from various singing competitions where they compete against each other for the title of the “SUPERSTAR”.  Rahul Vaidya was the winner of the 1st season and the 1st India Idol winner Abhijeet Sawant was the 1st runner up.

And guess who is back? The real Shaan is back ;)   Shantanu Moitra and Shaan would judge STAR Plus’ Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar Season 2!  You might recollect Shantanu Moitra , the Parineeta and 3Idiots fame music director. He is making an entry into television industry as a reality show judge in the second season of  “Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar”. Did you know that Moitra had started off his musical career with the popular ‘Bole Mere Lips I Love Uncle Chips’ jingle! Interesting…Right?

And what can we say about Shaan aka Shantanu Mukherjee? As a child, Shaan began his career by singing ad jingles. After giving it up for a brief period, he soon returned to it, and also began to sing remixes and cover versions. In the 1989 movie Parinda, when he was only 17 years of age, Shaan sang a single line in the song, “Kitni Hai Pyari Pyari Dosti Hamari”. His song “Chand Sifarish” from the movie Fanaa and “Jab Se Tere Naina” from Saawariya won the Filmfare Best Male Playback Award and the Zee Cine Award Best Playback Singer – Male apart from receiving several other nominations. In 2000 he won the MTV Asia Music Award for best solo album for his album Tanha Dil. Shaan won Best TV Music Director Award for creating the music of the Zee TV show Lipstick.

Wait, it is not yet over! There is one more surprise element in the show…. After her long absence from the telly industry due to her pregnancy, Mandira Bedi is back in the media and she would be the host of the reality show.

After her star-making turn in Shanti, Bedi appeared in a supporting role in the 1995 film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and played Kajol’s rival and going-to-be sister-in-law for Shahrukh Khan’s love and “Mandira”, in the popular Indian soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Among her other career highlights was a stint as one of the presenters on the Indian television talent contest/reality show, Fame Gurukul (which ended on 20 October 2005), replacing R. Madhavan as the anchor of Deal Ya No Deal. Did you know that she also hosted the 1st season of “Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar”?
